Freddy Chávez Olmos is a multidisciplinary Creative Director with over 17 years of experience in filmmaking and visual effects. Known for being at the forefront of emerging technologies, he leverages AI and innovation to empower creators and shape the future of storytelling.
Born in Puebla, Mexico, Freddy studied special effects make-up in Los Angeles and apprenticed under legendary artist Dick Smith (“THE EXORCIST”). Based in Vancouver, he has worked on projects by visionary filmmakers like Guillermo del Toro, Neill Blomkamp, Robert Rodriguez, Tim Burton, and Christopher Nolan. His collaborations with top VFX studios including Double Negative, Industrial Light & Magic, Weta Digital, and Image Engine, include contributions to the Oscar-winning “BLADE RUNNER 2049” and the Emmy-winning “THE MANDALORIAN”.
Freddy’s award-winning directorial debut, “SHHH”, received international acclaim, including praise from Guillermo del Toro. As a member of the Directors Guild of Canada, he has directed episodes of CW and Netflix’s “TWO SENTENCE HORROR STORIES” and written for the Mexican horror anthology “LA HORA MARCADA” (2022).
Currently, Freddy serves as the Creative Director for AI and Innovation at Boxel Studio. He is also part of the Creative Partners Program (CPP) and beta testing groups for cutting-edge tools such as Leonardo AI, Luma Dream Machine, Beeble Switchlight, Simulon and Wonder Studio. His recent work on the television show “SUPERMAN & LOIS” exemplifies his pioneering approach, using machine learning tools to accelerate and optimize production workflows.
A sought-after guest speaker, Freddy has presented at prestigious events including San Diego Comic-Con, TEDx, VES, and SIGGRAPH.
